Final - To be played in March - Scunthorpe Sports Club
Handicap Knock-Out Competition ~ Rules & Notes
(Please note Rules 6 & 7 - new for this year)
1. The first and second rounds of the Team Handicap Knockout, shall be played during the first and second free weeks in the league fixtures, on the home team’s normal night, unless otherwise agreed. It’s recommended, that the third round should be played effectively between 19 December 2011 and 8 January 2012. Home Captains should contact their opponent’s Captain, in good time, to confirm match arrangements.
2. Thereafter, subsequent rounds shall run alongside the normal League fixtures, but shall be arranged by the HOME Team Captain, giving ten days notice and offering two nights to the away Team.
3. The Final of the competition will be held at Scunthorpe Sports Club, during March 2012, on a date yet to be confirmed. Please check the website (see back page) for more information.
4. A sealed envelope will be posted to the team captain receiving the handicap points. This envelope should then be given to the opponent's team captain, who should only open it, after the match has been completed, to reveal the points allocation.
5. Teams shall consist of 3 players, who must all be registered to play for that team, at the time of playing. No guest, or loan players are allowed (see League Rules 11 and 12 page 18).
6. Each team member will play 2 rubbers against each of the other team members, which means that everyone will play 6 rubbers.
7. Each rubber will be played in the ‘old’ style, until one player reaches 21 points, having 5 serves alternatively. Play does not continue beyond 21 points, even if the opponent has 20 points.
8. All the points won by both teams will be added, with one of the teams also adding their handicap points allocation for that match. The team with the most points wins.
9. In the event of a tie, the match will be replayed at the 'Away' team's venue.
10. The first and second round draws are drawn before the season starts. Subsequent rounds will be drawn later.
11. Handicaps will be re-assessed throughout the rounds.
12. Any questions to the Match Secretary, Bob Pitchford, or any other Committee member.
